The initial goal of the project was to create a modern hotel complex for both families and couples. Hence, from the early stages of the design, users were divided into distinct zones, in order to ensure the different specifications required for their service. Thus, it was chosen to construct two-story bungalow-type rooms, arising from a central building, in the form of a large canopy, under which the basic communal functions of the complex are arranged.
However, during the excavation process, important archaeological findings were made leading to the redesign of the project, having in mind the coexistence of the new and the old, the modern and the preserved while ensuring the functionality and viability of the investment.
The plans kept on changing during the three year of the archaeological excavations, as new findings were constantly revealed, which influenced the placement of the buildings, while at the same time a systematic effort was made to highlight them.
The dominant elements of the composition were the orientation towards the sea and the view, the users’ privacy, the strong presence of the liquid element which enables the expansion of all the ground floor rooms into swimming pools and the creation of zones of use according to each group of users.
With the bedroom wings, these zones become clear, while in the spaces inbetween them, and following the spaces of the central building, communal swimming pools are arranged.
The hotel can accommodate 850 guests. To better serve them, 7 different themed restaurants have been created (3 in the main building and 4 in the communal swimming pools), 8 bars, a semi-outdoor amphitheater, multipurpose rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a rejuvenation center, gyms, sports fields, sports club, splash park, kids club. The most disturbing functions and activities are located in the area of the central building and behind it, ensuring peace and privacy for the remaining functions.
